25.11.04 - Severn Tunnel Band Mourn Death of a Stalwart
It is with great sadness that the Severn Tunnel Band announce the
passing of Jack Powell on Monday November 22nd. We are sure that this will
be devastating news to his many friends in the South Wales band movement.
Jack joined the band when his family moved to Caldicot in the 1950's
having previously played with New Tredegar Band. He has given the band over
fifty years service, as a player, friend and committeeman. Jack always had a
smile, a joke to tell or a song to sing and will be greatly missed by all
that knew him. He leaves us all with fond memories of his
legendary exploits with the band and will forever in our hearts and minds.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go to Jane, James and thier families.
