The Senior Band competes regularly in local and national Brass Band competitions, currently in the Third and Second sections. In a typical year, we aim to take part in 3-4 competitions and may also compete in the UK National finals, should we progress that far. A summary of the competitions which we have entered over the past few years can be seen here.
In addition to competitions, the Senior Band also puts on an annual Summer concert and takes part in a number of local community events such as Fetes, Services, and the Caldicot Armistice parade. In December we play Carols in the local towns and villages.
The Senior Band is available for players from around Grade 5 onwards, and players of any age can be offered the change to take part in competitions, depending on band numbers and balance. Our youngest competing player is 12 years old, and we have younger players sitting in with rehearsals as they progress. There is no upper age limit!
We meet for rehearsal two times each week. See the “Rehearsals” page for more details.
Subs for the Senior Band is set at £50 per year. For regular players this can include the loan of a band instrument.
